ABOUT THIS TOUR
The Monte Toboggans Sledges first originated in the early 19th century when they were used as first means of “downhill” public transportation by the local residents who wanted to travel quickly from the village of Monte to the city of Funchal. Presently and for a number of years now, the Sledges are used to transport thousands of tourists every year, seeking a ride full of emotions, adrenaline and an unforgettable experience with splendid views over the city and beyond.
We will take a walk around the Monte perish in the hills of Funchal, we visit the Largo da Fonte, a very famous square and beautiful with its gardens, where we can see the old train station and tell you the history of it. Then we go see the beautiful church of Monte where we can find the last tomb of the last Austro-Hungarian emperor. At the end you will take the fun ride of going down in the Toboggan sled.
